How to Save Money as a Student?
Being a student sometimes feels like sitting on the fence. There is so much on your plate, and you don’t know how to cope with it all.Once upon a time, I was also a student and faced the same situations.I totally get it, being a student, you have to take care of so many things. However, things have changed a lot. If I compare the 90s era and this generation, a few problems are still the same, and one of them is how to save money as a student. If you searched this query, that means you are already on the correct path.Ask me, “why”?As a student, if you are thinking about saving money, that means you have some future plans in your mind, and that’s a really great thought. There are tremendous benefits to starting to save money early. Also, when you start saving early, you learn about so many things related to budgeting, saving, investing options, etc. Another benefit is that you become conscious of your spending. Now let’s go back to our question, which is, “How can I save money as a student?”Well, different people have different opinions, and so do I. But one thing I can assure you here is that I’m about to reveal some important and realistic ways to achieve it. Here, I’m not going to promote so-called things that will hardly make any sense.Compelling Ways to Save Money as a Student – Step by Step Guide
First things first. You have to decide on which category you come in. Are you a working student or a non-working student? Do you want to save money without working or doing any part-time job?Steps are almost the same for both categories, but in this article, I am specifically going to cover how to save money as a student without working. So if you are a non-working student and looking for tips on how to save money as a student, this guide will prove helpful for you.How to Save Money as a Student Without Working
Being a student and working full-time does not work for every student. If you are a student and not working, that means you probably get pocket money every month. So this guide is made specially for the people who are not working and getting pocket money and want to save money.Well, don’t be sad. I have one individual article for students who are working and want to start saving. But in this article, we only focus on how to save money without working. The following are the top ways to save money.Save 20% of your Monthly Pocket Money
This is the correct answer to your question, “How much money should I save as a student?”20% is essential to keep aside if you are thinking about saving money. However, it also depends on the amount you get every month. If it is not possible for you to save 20%, make it a 10% and try to increase this percentage. Think about the longer run.Saving 20% may sound like a big deal to you, but it is not. It feels this way as you are not habituated to saving money.Calculate your Monthly Expenses
What are your monthly expenses? If you live with your parents, your expenses will be less compared to the students who live away from home. So, calculate your monthly expenses to understand your monthly spending. Creating a list helps you find out the difference between wants and needs.Once you created the list. Check out the list carefully, and you’ll understand where you went wrong. Some people prefer yearly, and some prefer monthly. Well, in your case, I’ll say go for monthly expenses because calculating yearly will be too time consuming and it becomes difficult to plan the whole year ahead. Also, if in the middle of the month something unusual comes up, include that spending too.Even today, I create a monthly expense list and record every expenditure of mine. This helps me understand where my money goes.To calculate your monthly expenses, you can use journals, a simple diary or just grab your notebook. No need to spend on expensive monthly trackers. It is that easy.Don’t Get Addicted
Are you addicted to anything? If not, good thing. If yes, try to overcome it. Any kind of addiction is not good for health. Here I’m not only talking about money but also about your health.Just because your friend is smoking, you do not have to. Even if he forces you, don’t fall for it.It will not only affect your budget but also affect your health (mental as well as physical).Once you get addicted to something, it takes years to break that habit. So in the first place, it is better to stay away from it.Don’t get me wrong here. You should hang out with all types of friends, but you must understand the difference between wrong and right. In short, you must know your limits. Knowing your limits will protect you from so many bad habits and help you stay focused.Avoid Going Out Every Other Weekend
School/college life is never going to come back, and that’s why everyone wants to experience it to the fullest, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.But as I said earlier, you must know your limits. If you are going out every other weekend, that will eventually affect your pocket. Along with this, it will also affect your studies. You have so many things to do rather than partying every other weekend. You can spend your weekend by doing any sports activity, going for a walk alone, spending me-time, organising your things, doing weekend jobs, and there are tons of things that you can do on weekends and spend your weekend joyously. You can also list the things that you want to do on weekends and divide your weekends accordingly.Bring your Tiffin to School/College
Every school and college has a canteen nowadays, but that does not mean you have to spend your money on canteen food. As you never know whether the food is hygienic or not.I know schools and colleges are under the surveillance of food inspectors. They often visit schools and colleges to check the food quality, but there is a possibility that your canteen serves you food from the previous day or the day before yesterday, without your concern. For a min, just forget all I said but how much you are spending on by having food at the canteen. In contrast, you can plan your weekly meal and accordingly do grocery shopping. Also, this is the best way to learn cooking.Suppose you go to a country where you won’t find your favourite meals, you could cook for yourself.(Best deal, I know)Walk or Cycle to the School/College
Walking and cycling are good for your health – you indeed heard about this so many times. But did you apply this in your life? When we choose a school or college, it is mostly a few miles away from our home. So why choose a school transport facility unless it is free of cost? You have three options here.First, use public transportation, second cycling and third walking. If the public transportation in your city is costly and your school or college is not far away, simply choose walking or cycling. Either way is good for your health and your pocket. This is among the best ways to save money as a student.Open Child/Minor Savings Account
This should be your #1 priority on “how to save money effectively as a student”.Search for the government-authorised and trustworthy banks in your country and nearby branches. Ask your parents, as they know better when it comes to finances. After choosing your bank, all you have to do is open your account, and you can start putting some money into it every month.Buy and Sell Used Books (Unessential Items)
When I was in college, this was among the best ways for me to make some money without doing anything. However, if you want to sell your books, make sure that you keep them neat and tidy. As long as your books are in good shape, you can easily find people to buy them and can grab a good deal.Other than this, if you have some other things that you no longer need or are not going to use, you can sell them and earn a significant amount.Check out the below platforms where you can find the best deal.Where to Sell Used Books
- Amazon
- Facebook market and groups
- eBay
- Local vendor
Not only can you sell used books, but you can also sell other used items here. Don’t you think it’s a good way to contribute your bit to recycling?Buy or Take on Rent the Used Books you Require
The same goes with you. Just think for a moment, people who are buying your used books, why are they doing this? The answer is they want to save some money. If you go to buy new books, obviously, it will cost you more. So why not buy used books or take them on rent?It may sound cheap to some people, but for your question of how to save money as a student without working, it would be a great fit.In your 20s this would be an awesome hack one can use to save money in their 20s.Use Personal Expense Tracker App
No doubt, today’s generation is tech-savvy and stays glued to their smartphones all the time. So why not put these smartphones to better use?Your smartphone is indeed filled with lots of useful and useless apps. But have you downloaded a personal expense tracker app?Trust me, you must. By downloading a personal tracker app, you can keep an eye on spending. If you are kind of an old-fashioned person just like me, keep a budget journal with you and note down every spending of yours. So if you really wanna know how to spend money wisely as a student, I guess you have got your answer. Here is the detailed guide on how to use personal tracker apps and the best personal tracker apps to use in 2023.So these are some of the ways through which you can save a significant amount of money. But it wouldn’t be possible for you to save a lot by applying the above methods. In my suggestion, after a particular age, one should start working. It helps you in many ways that I talked about in the article, why a student should start working.I totally get it, as a student, it won’t be possible for you to work full-time. But there are many jobs that have requirements for part-time candidates. Search for those jobs. After this, the first question that may come to your mind is what part-time jobs I can do. So, below is the answer to your question. What Part-time Jobs can I do as a Student?
The opportunities are tremendous, but you have to decide by yourself what you can do, as you have to manage your studies as well. Before giving you a list of the jobs you can do part-time, let me tell you about another way. Some students can’t manage jobs and studies at the same time, so what you can do is work during summer vacations or whenever your college or school gives vacations. As a result, it won’t affect your studies. You will find many seasonal jobs in your local area if you stay alert. To your question, what part-time jobs you can do, here also two types. One is offline and the second is online.Offline means here you have to go to a particular place to do work, and online, from your couch, you can work and earn money.Related to –Now, here you have to understand the difference. Nowadays, most people prefer online, undoubtedly it is among the best ways to earn money. But whatever you do online takes time. Whether it’s blogging, vlogging, becoming an influencer, freelancer, or whatnot. So if you want to start earning online, initially take it as a side gig. This option is best for financially stable students. But what if you want money monthly to deal with your expenses? In this scenario, going for offline work should be preferable. However, along with your offsite work, you can also work on an online side hustle. And when you think that you are earning a significant amount from your online gig, you can completely focus on your side hustle, making it a full-time earning source. One more thing I want to say here is, don’t compare yourself with anyone else. This is your life. If someone is doing X thing, it doesn’t mean that you have to do the same thing.Nowadays, people get influenced easily, and this is where they make mistakes.Honestly speaking, I never followed any trend, and even now I don’t follow it unless it seems worthy to me.I want to share my secret with you all (I know after sharing it here it will be no more secret) – I’m that kind of person who never installed TikTok or tried it, never played Candy Crush or tried it.If something does not feel right for you, don’t do it. There are so many better things to do.Hope this answer clarified some things for you.My Opinion
I was in your place some time ago, and I know how difficult being a student is. We see different types of students, some are rich, some are poor or middle-class, some are super smart, and some are average.Somewhere, we try to fit into them. But hear me loud, don’t try to fit into a place where you do not belong. You are an individual and take pride in it.When you start working, using, or selling used books, there will be some people who will make fun of you.Just ignore them. You are now working on building your own empire, and you are going to become a queen or king of that empire. So keep on working to achieve your goals.See you in the next blog!Till then, lots of love!Keep studying, keep growing. -

My Valentine’s Day 2026 Story
This Valentine was different.
This was our 3rd Valentine’s Day after marriage.
This time, we did not plan much as we both were swamped with work and were not sure whether we would get time to go out or not.
We both have the 2nd and 4th Saturday off, just like banks, but we are corporate ninjas.
Thankfully, Valentine’s Day came on the 2nd Saturday. Due to work pressure, we did not even realise that.
On Friday night, we realised that tomorrow is Valentine’s Day as well as the second Saturday. We kinda got relieved.
Headed to sleep knowing tomorrow was a holiday.
PS – How to Save Money as a Homemaker
Valentine’s Day
Here comes Valentine’s Day.
We woke up, greeted each other and headed towards the kitchen to make coffee.
Till now, no plans. Usual routines, usual chitchat.
I did my yoga, and he also finished his planting session.
After finishing our routine work, we sat together in a hall and started chatting about our Valentines’ before marriage.
During that conversation, I ordered gifts for him from Zepto (he was not aware that I was ordering gifts for him on Zepto; he thought I was ordering some snacks), and he already bought a gift for me. We exchanged gifts and were happy at that moment.
Then we divided household chores and started working on respective tasks.
And honestly speaking, we were so relaxed and totally into those moments.
No feeling of doing any extra, or fighting over not planning a day, we were completely happy in those moments.
Realisation
Here, one thing I realised: with time, excitement about Valentine’s Day may finish, but our care for each other will remain the same.
Now, we understand that going to pubs, restaurants or buying expensive gifts is not the only way to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
After marriage, sharing household duties and understanding each other’s needs and accordingly, surprising them with gifts, that’s what matters.
Day Ends with
After finishing our chores, we started cooking together, had lunch and rested for a while.
For us, rest has different meanings.
For him, it is DIY, and for me, it is reading and writing.
Around 5 o’clock, we decided to go out and get some fresh air.
Had a cute fight, which is common between husband and wife, and ended our day with eating a light meal at night while watching Netflix.
Bottom Line
As you can read, we have not done anything fancy or extraordinary; we were with each other and enjoying “us time”.
For us, spending a good time doesn’t mean that we have to buy expensive gifts or go to luxury restaurants; it’s all about giving the attention another partner requires.
Though we go out sometimes, it’s not necessary for us to go out every time. Just being with each other is enough.
For many of you, it may look boring, but for me, it is more than enough.

Manifestation Doesn’t Work in 360 Degrees
You definitely could have read many blogs claiming that if you want to get something, manifest it. Even though I’m a firm believer in manifestation, today, this is not what I’m going to talk about. After practising manifestation by myself, I could definitely say that it doesn’t work in 360 degrees.
Why Doesn’t Manifestation Work in a 360-degree?
Why am I saying this?
Let me explain this with an example.
You want a supportive, caring life partner. You started manifesting for that.
You started writing all the good qualities you want in your husband. And one day, your manifestation came true, you got a caring, supportive life partner.
But then you realised it, you haven’t got nice in-laws. Obviously, you might have missed his family background, in-laws, as your whole concentration was on getting a good partner.
Just as a disclaimer, this is not my life story. Above was just an example.
So with this, the question will arise: Should we stop manifesting?
Let’s jump on this point now.
Should We Stop Manifesting?
Of course not. Even if the manifestation doesn’t work in 360 degrees, at least you could get the things you want.
Let’s understand this with an example.
You always say, I reach my destination safely. So even if something happens in the middle of the route, you’ll reach your destination safely because this is what you were manifesting for.
So when people say you can achieve everything just by manifesting it, they are not wrong, but no one says it doesn’t work in 360 degrees.
To what extent could you think of it? You can’t think about every individual’s moves, you can’t predict deadly viruses, you can’t predict your life second by second, you can’t preplan an exact tomorrow for yourself, and I can go on and on about this topic.
By saying all these things, I didn’t mean to scare you, but this is the truth.
What’s the Solution for This?
Manifestation and all are okay, but there is one thing which is out of our control, “destiny”. Leave a few things for destiny as well.
So think as good as you can. Believe in positivity and live your life to the fullest. One more suggestion, when you manifest, try to think from every angle. I know it’s not possible, but give it a shot, and you might get better results. This is also from my experience.
Final Words
Just because manifesting doesn’t work in 360 degrees, you don’t have to stop manifesting. Please continue that.
Sometimes, what happens because of external circumstances, we forget what exactly we want to achieve in our lives and become slaves to our fear. So think, manifest, live and repeat.
If God sent you on the earth, there should be some reason. So try to find that, don’t waste your life worrying about stupid things.

Why Manners Matter in life?
Manners matter.I’m not certain about other people, but for me, it matters a lot.
For me, manners come in different types. Because your behaviour changes depending on with whom and where you are.
With different groups of people, you should maintain your way of behaving. If you think that no I’ll behave the way I behave in front of my loved ones, or I’m like this, you definitely need to reflect on your manners.
Let’s categorise the group of people and how you have to draw a wise line of manners.
Different Types of Groups
Family
For me, family means parents and siblings. The most closed people, who know everything about us.
They know how we react to different situations. With them, we normally don’t have to include manners.
In a family, there should be respect for each other, and with that, manners come automatically.
You don’t have to fake anything. You can be completely yourself and express your feelings without hesitation.
Relatives
In this group of people, what matters is your relationship with them.
For some people, relatives are a headache. For some people, it is an unbreakable bond.
As I said, it completely depends on your relationship with them. There is a strong possibility that you may not have a good bond with every relative, somewhere you have to pretend and maintain a boundary of manners.
Even if you don’t like a few relatives, you have to make sure that you are not crossing your limits to maintain social courtesy.
I personally believe that whether you like that person or not, we should never cross our limits.
Here, when you have a good bond with them, you don’t have to pretend anything; everything comes naturally.
Friends
I personally believe that when you are with your friend circle, you can be completely yourself and don’t need to pretend anything.
When it comes to close friends, there is no need to follow manners as well.
I have five close friends, and when I’m with them, I don’t have to follow any manners. I can be completely myself because they know me quite well and accept me with every flaw.
But we have to follow some manners when it comes to friends of friends, where you can not be completely yourself because of obvious reasons, and follow certain manners. At least with me, this is the case.
Neighbours
There is a saying in Hindi, “Pehla Saga Padosi,” which means neighbours are the first family you have.
I have a lot of experience where neighbours are the ones who came to help in the first place.
Also, it is always advisable to have a good relationship with neighbours. You never know when you’ll need their help.
Just forget about help, but those are the people who live closest to your house, and you will see them every day.
So try to maintain good relations with them. Greet them on a daily basis, and invite them to your home occasionally.
Personally, I like to do all these things.
Corporate Friends/Colleague
I’ve been in the corporate industry for more than 8 years now, and I’ve seen many bosses and employees who completely lack manners.
I’ve seen bosses who take their anger out on employees, treat them like slaves, abuse them – in short, lack manners.
These people mostly have ego problems. They can’t accept their mistakes. Accepting their mistakes is a colossal task for them.
I personally believe that it doesn’t matter from which background, post, or designation you come from; all employees should be treated with respect and manners.
No boss or manager has the right to take their anger out on employees.
The same goes with colleagues. Treat all your colleagues with respect and follow basic manners.
Being at a higher post doesn’t give you the right to abuse or treat junior employees as punching bags.
Corporate is a place where we should strictly maintain a few boundaries and stand for ourselves wherever needed.
Bottom Line
Every school should include this curriculum and teach children the basics of manners.
While growing old, they would realize the importance of manners and include them in their day-to-day life.
See, you can learn and incorporate manners at any stage of your life. But the important thing is you should start.
So, when are you incorporating manners in your life?

How to Save Money as a Homemaker
Homemaker. A person who stays at home. This is how our society looks at it.Being a homemaker is a big job and responsibility in itself. When we say homemaker, society thinks of women only.
However, it’s no longer gender specific. Anyone can be a homemaker. It could be a man or a woman. Mindsets are getting changed slowly, but they are.
Being a homemaker, you have to take care of everything, including saving money.
You may reside in any corner of the world (India, USA, UK, Australia, etc.), but the intention to save money is the same.
There are tremendous options available on Google, YouTube, podcasts, etc., on how to save money. But the question is, do those tips really work?
Well, it entirely depends on an individual’s lifestyle, where they live, how many members they have in their family, total net income and most importantly, their willingness to save money.
If one is really interested in saving money, she tries every way possible to save money and invest it for better future and stormy days.
So, in this blog, I’m going to talk about some useful yet simple ways a homemaker can use to save money.
Well, for this article, I assumed that you are only a homemaker. So if you are a homemaker and have any side hustle still this blog is helpful for you.
Keep scrolling! Why is it Necessary to Save Money as a Homemaker?
When you live alone, you do not have to look after people. You are your own boss. You can do whatever you want at your own pace. But when you get married, things change drastically. You are no longer the same careless person who never thought of saving money. Now, even if you have to spend a cent, you have to think twice. When you have a family to look after (doesn’t matter the number here; it could be two, three, etc.), uncertainties can knock at your door at any time. If you do not have funds ready to tackle such situations, you would have to take out a loan and get yourself into debt.Situations like – your car needs urgent repair, unplanned pregnancy, kids’ admission, medical conditions, business failure, fired from a job, etc. I named only a few of them. Now you can imagine yourself.Besides these, there are many reasons behind the question, why it is important to start saving early. It is better to avoid such situations in the first place by saving funds for rainy days. Most Useful Ways to Save Money as a Homemaker
I recently got married (2023), so everything was new to me. However, along with being a homemaker, I play different roles that you can read about in the ” About Me ” section. But thankfully, I do not have to do everything alone.I have my helping hand (my husband). He helps me with almost everything as we work from home and manage everything on our own. But not everyone works from home, and as a result, being a housewife, you have to handle everything single-handedly. You might occasionally have a helping hand when your husband returns from his workplace. So, here I share with you the ways I personally follow to save money. Before starting, I want to share one more thing with you all: no matter how much your spouse earns (less or more), you should always look for ways to save money.Have a Monthly Budget
When you talk about saving money, you must prepare a monthly budget.Having a monthly budget helps in tremendous ways that you couldn’t imagine!I know it sounds like every blogger is saying the same thing. But without having a proper budget, it won’t be possible for you to save money.Personally, I have a diary where I create a monthly budget.Whoa, wait! If you are thinking you only need to create a monthly budget once, you are wrong.Just like every day is different, months are too. The previous month’s budget won’t work for the next month.I understand you can’t think in 360 degrees, but as much as you can, you have to.For instance, you have a month filled with lots of celebrations and events, so here you have to think about all the ways in which you can cut down costs and save money. In such situations, having a monthly budget works like magic as you consider all the expenses in the first place.Don’t Throw Away your Grocery Receipts
Purchased, got a receipt, threw it in the dustbin and repeat! Are you also doing the same?To your disappointment, you are doing it wrong. You might be thinking I’m crazy, who collects and tracks grocery receipts?Well, people who really want to save money do it, and I’m one of them.By having all receipts with me, I can check where my money went out, what purchases I make regularly, where I can save (or could have saved), and be on my budget. If how can I save money with groceries and household items is your question, mark by words, you just got your answer.Prepare Food at Home
You may hear this many times. But you can’t deny the fact.By preparing food at home, you can save a significant amount. I heard you say, “It takes time and energy to make food”.Well, if you want to eat outside or order online, it also takes time. You won’t choose any random restaurant or cafe. Obviously, you will do your research (at least some research). Similarly, before ordering online, you’ll check reviews, items to order, etc.Though it looks like an easy thing to do, it is not. Unknowingly, you spend hours in it. During that time, you can actually prepare delicious food. Some people might say, “I don’t know how to cook”. However, this does not apply here, as when you are a homemaker, the chances are you make decent food.Still, I want to give an answer here – if you don’t know how to cook.No worries! There is a start to everything, and in today’s internet era, nothing is difficult.Search for a dish you want to prepare, and you’ll find thousands of tutorials on Google and YouTube. You can plan your weekly meal and accordingly shop for items and do some preparation in advance on weekends to save your time on weekdays.Don’t Purchase Non-mandatory Things
When I say don’t purchase non-mandatory things, it includes everything that is not essential in your life, and after you make a purchase, it will be kept in any corner of the house forever. It could be anything, a branded shoe that looks stylish at first glance in the showroom’s light and after bringing them at home, it feels like a total waste of money. This was only one example I gave here but there are many. Many times we do impulsive, emotional shopping that every individual should avoid. One of the main reasons behind this is the trend. On the name of trend, people actually buy something stupid, and when the trend goes, that same item never gets touched.Personally speaking, I only buy clothes and items that actually feel good to me, and I use them for at least a few years. Otherwise, there is no point in buying them. Even if you have a lot of money to buy them, try to avoid that temptation. If you really want to stop impulsive buying, try the 30 day rule to save money.Stop Buying Expensive Cleaning Supplies
As a housewife, your first priority is to keep the house clean and tidy. Almost everyone wants their house to look spotless, and for this, you tend to buy expensive cleaning supplies.I also used to do the same things until I found some interesting DIY hacks.A vinegar and soda combination works like magic when it comes to removing clogged drains. However, vinegar and soda alone have their individual cleaning properties.Get some baking soda and add enough water to form a paste. Once the paste is ready, you can use it for rubbing, grinding, and grease removal. On the other hand, you can use vinegar to clean your kitchen sink, kitchen surface and other rooms. Add vinegar and water to one bottle. Spray it on the surface you want and wipe it. It is that easy. You can try out more such combinations with the available items in your house. However, be careful.Don’t mix something that can lead to an explosion.Avoid Having Meat too Often
Meat lovers could hate me for saying this. But wait! I did not say that you have to completely cut off the meat. I just said, try to have it less often.Unarguably, meat costs you more than vegetables. Also, veg items are not bad to taste. If you think from a health point of view, it keeps your cholesterol and fat in control. For a sec, forget about the health benefits, but by not having meat every now and then, you can save a lot of money.Watch your Utility Bills
It sounds like collecting coins. How can one save on utility bills? It is like a hard nut to crack.Surprisingly, it is not.First thing first.Calculate the total of the utility bills you get every month. Do they fluctuate every month? If you see tremendous fluctuation, that means you are doing something wrong. Are you one of those who keep lights on when leaving the room, use warm water for a bath in hot weather, use postpaid, not use automatic thermostat, not use a dimmer, keep gas on while talking on phone, plug-in laptop when not in use, and I can go on and on.So if you are doing any of the above things, there is so much space for improvement that you need to find out.Saving on utility bills is not that difficult, but due to our lazy habits, we are not willing to make the effort. Now you have to decide which category you come in.Grow Some Veggies at your Garden
This is my personal favourite. I love gardening a lot. When I’m not working, you’ll find me gardening. This hobby of mine has been helping me save a lot. You’ll find almost all types of veggies in my small garden. The best part is I’m not alone in this. My helping hand is with me. None other than my husband.Actually, he is the reason I started loving gardening. He used to plant a lot of plants, and I was like why is he doing this? But, I observed one thing about myself that when I got bored at work or needed a break, I used to watch plants and feel peace. From there, my hobby of planting started.Whenever I would go to the market, I would come up with some seeds and the next day find a place to plant them. Now, even my workspace has a lot of plants.Enough oxygen! But along with getting oxygen and fresh air, you can enjoy the benefit of saving money. Not to forget, you get fresh veggies to eat straight from your home mini-garden.Buy in Bulk (Needed Items)
When we buy in bulk, we get a discount on our purchase. However, one thing you have to ensure here is that you should not buy items that can not last long.If you buy washing powder in bulk, it’s a good deal as it has a long shelf life.In contrast, if you think of buying fruits in bulk, you know what you are doing. Just wasting your money.Buy the items that have a long shelf life and are useful for you on a daily basis.Don’t buy something randomly just because it is on discount.I know most of us get confused when shopping, and I used to be one of you, but not now. I make a list of items that I need to buy before shopping. This habit protects me from buying something unnecessary, keeps me focused, and saves time as I already know what I want to buy. Also, money.Prepare Delightful Meals from Leftovers
It’s appreciable if you give leftovers to the needy or street animals. But if you put them in the dustbin thinking no one will eat these leftovers, think again.Whenever something is left from our last dinner, I use that item to make my breakfast the next day.I love to have rice, so what I do whenever rice is left, I prepare fried rice out of it and trust me, it is yum. There are so many delicious items you can make from leftovers. I named only one here. You can use leftover curries in rolls, sandwiches, etc.Try to find out some amazing tutorials on Google or YouTube, and trust me, you’ll be surprised to know these items exist in the world.Go for DIY wherever Possible
I won’t force this on you, as not everyone has time to do everything from scratch, especially when you have toddlers to take care of, though it is interesting to try if you really want to save as a homemaker/housewife and do your bit for the environment. There are lots of things you can do on your own and save beyond your imagination. The same items, if you buy from the market, will cost you almost triple or more. This is my personal experience. If you ask me for a list of DIY items, I can’t give the numbers. There are numerous. You can DIY as many items as you want, from nail polish, lip balm, soap, clay bowls, crown moulding, door painting, paint an entire house, to home decor.Search on the internet, and you’ll find countless tutorials. It entirely depends on individual interest. Plus, if your spouse is also into this, you both can have fun together.Darn your Own Clothes
How many times have you thrown the clothes because of darns?I know the answer – so many times. You thought the impact was only on your wallet. But it is not!It not only affects your pocket but also the environment. There is no home without a thread and a needle. Remember the time when your mom or grandmother used to darn your clothes and tell you to learn these chores.I’m not saying that this should be done by only women; men should also know this skill.Knowing how to darn your clothes can protect you from heavy embarrassment.Let me create a situation for you.Just imagine you have a party at 8 pm. You are already getting late. One piece of cloth gets torn while getting ready for a party, and that was your favourite dress you planned to wear at the party. You do not have time to go to the tailor or buy a new dress. So when you know how to darn, you do not have to look here and there.Got my point! Also, one should have a habit of learning something new. If you don’t know how to darn, no worries, you can learn it now. There is no perfect age for learning something new.Prefer Shopping from Thrift Store or Local Markets
It might sound disgusting to people who prefer branded clothes or items, though sometimes their offered quality is not that good. However, by doing a little hard work to find clothes at thrift stores and local markets, you can find better quality clothes than branded ones, and that too at a cheap cost. This is not only applicable to clothes but to every item. There are some situations that have happened to me in the past. The items I didn’t get in other malls or department stores, I found them at these stores. Here, some people say I got lucky. But if you think so, you can try your luck too. There is no harm in trying something new that could benefit you in the long run.Walk or Bicycle Around or Near Places
Regardless of saving money, you can do more than good for your health. It keeps your blood pressure in control, helps you lose weight, boosts your mood, and increases stamina. Just named a few of them. But there are many benefits you can get from these small changes. If you have a habit of taking your car wherever you go, it doesn’t matter how small the distance you have to cover; you really need to think about this. Many of you will say that we don’t have time, that’s why we prefer vehicles. If you have time to scroll Instagram and mindless reels, you have a space to make time for everything.I saw many people who book Ola or Uber for small distances, like can’t you walk or cycle 2 to 3 km. If it sounds like too much, start with 1 km, and when you feel like your stamina has increased, you can walk or cycle more miles. If I have to give my example, I like to walk a lot rather than cycling. 2 to 3 km is normal for me.Also, whenever I have free time or feel bored or tired, I just go for a walk; it boosts my mood, and I feel light.Use Prepaid SIM
I know postpaid sounds more fancy than prepaid SIM (at least it was true for me once). But do you know how much you may have to pay for this “fancy word”?Once upon a time, I was in your shoes, so I knew this better than anyone else.Just because someone told me postpaid SIMs are good, I did, and that was my biggest mistake. However, when I realised my mistake, I again converted my SIM into prepaid, and now I’m at peace. If something worked for someone else, it doesn’t mean that it would work for you.So before coming to any conclusion, think in 360 degrees.Just because I said, you do not have to do this. Try it by yourself and see the difference.Use Coupons to Avail Discount
I was the kind of person who hardly used coupons. But the time I understood the importance of coupons and why brands provide coupons, I started using them.In this competitive era, brands want to stand out from the rest of the competitors. As a result, they tend to offer several discount offers and coupons through third-party apps, websites, magazines, newspapers, etc.So next time when you find free coupons, don’t throw them in the dustbin (or wherever you got to know about the free coupons). One thing you have to note here is that not all coupons prove to be beneficial for you. If you think I suggested you use every coupon you see, you misunderstood me.Let me clear this point. What I’m saying is, use the coupons for the items that you use in your day-to-day life, something like groceries, clothes, etc.Use Cash Instead of Cards
If you have an account in a bank that cuts extra money every time you pay with a card, it is highly advisable for you either to change your bank or use cash.I know with today’s so much availability of online payment options and cards, it seems like a hard nut to crack. I’m also one of you. When I use a card, it becomes easier for me to keep track of my expenses. I can easily see mini statements or bank statements to see where I spent the amount. But as I mentioned, switch to a bank that supports online shopping and works in your favour.Otherwise, you know what you have to do.Do not Use Credit Card
You might be thinking I’m against credit card companies (if you have seen my other posts), as whenever I talk about saving money, I make this point.Obviously, this is not true. When we know we have a tight budget or our main intention is to save money, we must not use a credit card or use it only when there is an urgency (do it or die situation). Some people use a credit card only to show off and then get into debt. To pay that debt, again take out a loan, and the cycle goes on.I know many credit card companies provide gift vouchers and special discounts. But all these things make sense only when you use them attentively, and wherever there is a need for something like a medical emergency. If you think buying those branded shoes is an emergency, all I can say is best of luck with your finances.Side Hustle
I know this is something out of the syllabus, but everyone should have at least one extra income source. As a homemaker, you better understand the importance of money. It’s okay to be a homemaker, take pride in it.However, after you finish your house chores, you probably have some time. You can utilise this time and start working on creating an extra income source.Homemaking is itself a big job, and I totally get it. But you don’t get a salary for it. As a result, you have to depend upon your partner financially. In today’s world, you should be financially independent, not to put down your partner, but to become his helping hand.I have a list of articles that you could find on my blog where I talk about many side hustles one can start.Bottom Line
Long read….I know! Here I listed whatever points came to my mind, thinking those points would be helpful for you in your journey of saving money as a homemaker. With the availability of so much information out there, we tend to get confused, but every individual is different and has a different life. Not everything will be fitted into your life.So pick the points that you think will make your life easier and help you save money. With this, I’m ending this article.Keep hustling and improving your life. The world is a better place to live. -

Indoor Plants that Improve Air Quality and Mood
When I was a child, I recall how excited I used to get when I saw greenery. From childhood, I’ve been fond of peace and prefer solitude rather than pleasing random people for no reason.
Due to this reason, I faced difficulties making friends instantly in my childhood. I remember one day, I was trying to figure out how other people could make friends easily, and I struggle (childhood, huh).
Well, it does not mean that I did not have any friends in my childhood. In fact, I really had good friends. The only difference is I take time to make friends and cannot fake anything, and to this moment, nothing has changed.
So, going back to the topic. I’m fond of peace and greenery. Actually, these two things are synonyms for me. But at that time, I was not aware of their benefits to that extent as I do now.
When I was in Nagpur, I used to go for morning and evening walks in the garden and loved to spend time by myself (again, solitude). So I was inhaling oxygen and fresh air automatically without even thinking about it.
But when I shifted to Hyderabad, things had changed drastically. I was not able to go for walks for obvious reasons: “traffic” and “the parks and walking tracks” were far away from my location.
As we all know, AQI levels are increasing everywhere. So I thought of buying plants, but again we had a common balcony and not-so-supportive neighbours. Here, I started my research and thought of going for indoor plants. We all know how plants lighten up the mood by simply being present.
Before jumping into the list of indoor plants you should have in your home, let’s talk about how these plants could improve your mood and thought process instantly.
My Experience with Indoor Plants
When I decided to go with indoor plants, I was a bit reluctant. I thought managing them could be difficult. But I had my supporting hand, my husband.
In the first place, we decided to try with two plants. If everything goes well, we will add new friends.
So, we brought two green friends to our home, placed them in our hall, and the way the atmosphere changed instantly, you couldn’t believe it.
Every time I saw them, my mind would relax, and I started being present in the moment. Most importantly, we were inhaling fresh air. I know two plants are not enough to purify the complete air quality, but I guess my mind got hallucinated in such a way.
Having this positive experience, we decided to buy at least one plant every month. Now, if I count them, I have almost 12 plants at my home.
Before jumping to the list of indoor plants you should have at your home, let’s talk about their benefits.
Benefits of Having Indoor Plants
We all know that plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, but there are many other harmful toxins that plants help to remove from the air, like formaldehyde, benzene, carbon monoxide, xylene, and others.
So, it’s never about only getting fresh air; plants are more than that.
Now, let’s see the list of indoor plants that you should buy for your home, which are absolutely low-maintenance.
Top 11 Indoor Plants for Purifying Air
Snake Plant
The Snake plant is mainly deep green in colour, with yellow or light green edges. On top, maintenance is very low. No requirements for regular watering, and it is compatible with low light.
Peace Lily
The Peace Lily has dark green leaves with white flowers. It requires low to medium, indirect sunlight and weekly watering. Make sure the soil doesn’t get too soggy.ZZ Plant
Like glossy things?Yes.
You’ll definitely like this ZZ plant, also known as Zamioculcas zamiifolia.
Its glossy dark green colour will amaze you. It thrives in low to bright indirect light and requires infrequent watering. When watering, ensure that the soil is completely dry.
Money Plant
When I was a child, I used to think that the Money Plant was a plant that gave real money. Now, I can understand it gives something which is more valuable than money, which is fresh air and oxygen.
The Money plant has green leaves with yellow or light cream patterns, which can sustain in low light or indirect light. The good part is that it can grow in water with no need for soil. So you can either use soil or water to grow them. The choice is yours.
English Ivy
The English Ivy plant is similar to the Money plant due to its climbing property. So, as per your interior requirement, you can hang it on the door or place it on a tabletop. It does require low to bright indirect light and moderate watering to keep its soil moist.
Parlor Palm
I love the Parlor Palm because of its soft green and feathery fronds, and I’m certain most people would fall in love with this colour combo. It requires low to medium indirect light and water when the top soil looks dry; otherwise, don’t overwater it.Dracaena
The Dracaena plant has green leaves, often with yellow or red edges. It requires bright and indirect light, though it has a capacity to tolerate low light. Keep the watering at a moderate level; don’t overdo it.
Chinese Evergreen
The Chinese evergreen has a colour combination of green with silver, pink, or red patterns. It requires low to medium indirect light, keeping the soil lightly moist and not so soggy.Boston Fern
The Boston fern has a colour combination of bright green and arching fronds, requiring medium to bright indirect light exposure. However, it requires watering on a regular basis as we have to keep the soil moist.Cast Iron Plant
The Cast Iron plant has dark green and broad leaves, which are definitely a treat for the eye. It requires low to medium light and irregular watering.Lucky Bamboo
As the name suggests, you’ll be lucky to have Lucky Bamboo in your home. It has bright green stalks and leaves, which survive in bright and indirect light. And the good part is that it grows in both soil and water. If you are keeping it in water, don’t forget to change the water every one to two weeks.
Bottom Line
All indoor plants are good ones and have different features, but one quality is the same, which is improving our mood.
If you want to check the options, refer to the list I provided and go for the ones you really liked.
Hope this blog helps in decision making.
Happy planting!

How to Manage Sunday Night Anxiety?
Just imagine. Friday evening is about to end, and your weekend is about to start. You have the whole two days in your hands. No deadlines, no meetings, no Outlook.
How does it feel?
I know the most amazing feeling in the world. Corporate ninjas can definitely relate to it.
But then the Sunday evening knocks on your door, and all your pending tasks come in front of your eyes.
Trust me. I know this feeling. I’m a corporate warrior myself.
However, I used to feel the same way. But nowadays I embrace the time I have in my hand. It took me a lot of time to get rid of this Sunday anxiety and feel positive about it, which I’m sharing in this blog.
So, let’s unfold one by one what I’ve done or am still doing to not feel anxious on Sunday evenings.
Things I do to Manage Sunday Night Anxiety
Slow Friday Evening
For a slow Friday evening, you should first finish all your work in the first place.
What I do. The first thing I do is create a list of tasks that I have to wrap up by Friday and work on those tasks in the first place, so that I don’t have to think about those tasks the whole weekend.
Mostly, I finish those tasks in the first half and then repetitive or less concentrated tasks. Trust me, by doing this, most of the burden is already gone.
I know many people by thinking it’s Friday don’t even work at all and become anxious on Sunday evenings.
Spend “me” Time/Self Care
Do you remember when you were in school, as soon as the weekend would arrive, you were completely present in those moments – no homework tension, no teacher tension. In a similar way, you should enjoy your weekend at every age.
See, I know being an adult is different, but when you get time for yourself, try to enjoy those moments by being present.
Do whatever you like to feel better. You can read a book, take a nap, get a massage, give time for your hobby, anything you want.
Just make sure you enjoy what you are doing.
I personally believe that spending time with yourself is equally important. Before enjoying other company, you should enjoy your company.
Spend Quality Time with your Loved Ones
Spare some time for your loved ones. Let me tell you how I divide my time.
Being married, I live with my husband so mostly we see each other after work and talk about our day. Share stories, sorrows and spend that time in a quality way.
But I don’t get much time to talk with my parents or in-laws. When I was in Nagpur, I used to visit them on alternate weekends. After moving to Hyderabad, every now and then, we can’t travel. So we video call them or call them and have long conversations.
It feels good to have such a conversation after long working days.
Then during the rest of the weekend, my partner and I divide household chores, spend time together and make sure we both have some “me time” individually.
Get into Nature
This is my favourite part. I love greenery more than malls or fancy restaurants. I love to spend time in nature. After coming to Hyderabad, the thing I miss the most is the morning walk.
In Nagpur, I used to go for morning walks. There were so many parks near my home. Currently, in the place I live, there are no parks. There is one park which is 15 min via vehicle from my location, but due to Hyderabad traffic, it seems like 15 KM away. It doesn’t make any sense to go there every morning.
So what we do is we go to parks on alternate weekends to give our eyes some relaxation. It’s our time, away from the screen and immersing ourselves in nature. Here, I mentioned we, as I usually go with a partner.
You also look for your sweet spot and see when you can experience this.
Self Talk
Don’t tell me you never did this before. Well, if you didn’t, you should start doing this. I’m not saying start talking with yourself in public like an idiot. Definitely not!
Instead, what you should do is look at yourself in the mirror and talk aloud all your feelings that you carried that week. Embrace yourself. Encourage yourself. Give clarity to yourself. Tell yourself you are doing a great job.
Many people do this every morning. But if it’s not possible for you, start doing it on a weekly basis. Trust me, you need this more than you think.
Meditation
In many of my blogs, I talked about meditation. Well, I’m not a regular meditator, but I’m really looking forward to this year. I really want to improve my morning schedule. However, whenever I get time, I meditate or at least do breathing exercises.
If you can, try meditating at least on a weekly basis. Better than never.
Most people say, morning time is the best time to meditate and even I feel the same. Again, if you don’t get time in the morning, just do it as per your schedule. I can totally relate to corporate warriors. Sometimes, we don’t get time for ourselves, and if someone lectures us like this, it feels literally irritating.
That’s why I’m repeating it again and again, do the things as per your schedule, but make sure that when you do that, you are 100% present in that moment.
Journaling
I do this quite often to get clarity on my thoughts and help me in decision-making. However, nowadays, I don’t get time for this a lot, so I do it on a weekly basis, mostly on Sundays.
Journaling about your thoughts is one of the great ways to understand your inner self and your thought process.
The little secret, my best decisions come from journaling only.
Get Ready for the Next Week
I know this doesn’t sound exciting, but it will prepare you for the upcoming week. Mostly, I do this on Sunday evenings at around 8 pm. I overview my last week’s tasks and what are the important tasks for the upcoming week, and accordingly, I divide my time.
See, don’t take work as a burden. I enjoy my work, but working with others could be a difficult task. You get to see different types of people in the workspace who think they know everything, and whatever they say should be the line. But learn to accept and ignore those people at the same time.
Enjoy your work. Do what you can and stand up for yourself wherever needed, and don’t panic for every small thing.
My Thoughts
The weekend is for relaxation and household chores that we often ignore until the weekend arrives. But after this, you also need to do something productive for yourself.
Think for a moment, you work hard for a company that pays you a monthly check, but how much time do you get for yourself or for your hobbies?
I’m pretty sure not much time or no time at all.
So instead of just lying on a bed, try to do something productive. I’m not saying don’t rest at all, but give some time to your hobbies that you enjoy working on.

Stop Chasing Perfection and Give it a Try
From childhood, I liked to write. Many times I thought of starting a blog, but it never happened until now.Whenever I felt like starting a blog, hundreds of thoughts were racing through my mind. I’m not from a literature background, I’m not fluent in English, who will read my blog, I don’t have enough time, and blah, blah, blah. But 2025 hit differently. I resigned from my job for valid reasons, took a break for almost six months, and later started applying for jobs.During those 6 months, I was going through a lot of things and felt like I was doing something wrong and needed to think about what I like the most, and eventually got my answer, “writing”. The only thing I was afraid of was not being consistent. But then I’m like, just give it a try and see how consistent I could be, and here started the journey of Lush Living Diaries. Initially, I was inconsistent, but later became consistent as I understood I really like to write. And nowadays, whenever I get time, I start writing. So when I said stop chasing perfection, I didn’t mean that you shouldn’t give your best, but rather start with as little as you have and know. You don’t have to be perfect and flawless when you start. With time, you’ll get the hang of those skills and become a master of them. Many people say creativity has ended after AI came into the market. Honestly speaking, I don’t think so. Even AIs are continuously in search of new and unique ideas and copy from people who do that. Also, I personally believe that you should never give up on something you love working on because this is what makes you happy. So the conclusion is, don’t stop being creative and don’t wait to become perfect. Time is running, and so is your time on this earth. If you read this blog so far, it means you needed this. So start your journey from this moment and thrive in the field you want.Difference between Passion and Perfection
Passion
When you can work on something continuously without being tired or worrying about the number of hours you worked. This approach and dedication come under the term passion. When I write, I never get bored and totally get involved in my work without being affected by outer noise. I won’t say I’m perfect in it, but I like what I do.Perfection
For instance, you like to draw, but you are an amateur, and you are afraid to start, as you are continuously wondering how people would react or what people would say. Here is the catch: drawing is your passion, but you feel you are not good enough to continue it, or you don’t have enough time to work on it, or you don’t have enough skill sets. So basically, you are chasing perfection. In conclusion, don’t chase perfection. Start with how little you know, and you’ll find doors are automatically getting opened up for you.Believe in yourself. Believe in your passion. When the Universe gifts you with something, that means it wants you to use it, not to waste it. -

My Solo Travel Journey In 2025
Till the year 2025, I never travelled alone and never had to. But things changed this year that I never thought would happen to me. Usually, I travel with my family and friends. Here I’m not talking about roaming around a city; I’m talking about going to a different city or place, living alone in a hotel, catching a train alone, and many other things that are involved in traveling.
I was thinking of not writing this, but somehow I need to let go of my emotions that I felt during the journey. So, I recently joined a new company, let’s call it X, and during an interview, no one told me that I have to travel and that too quite frequently, not a single word.
Basically, my profile is Digital Marketing Executive, and in these 8 years of experience, I have never had to travel, as it was mostly a sales team job.
So this X company asked me to visit their site, and in the first place, I thought it was going to be one time, and after that, I don’t have to travel, so I was like, let’s give it a shot.
On 27th Oct, I headed to Rajahmundry via Vande Bharat; however, while going, I was not alone, as one colleague gave me company. It was a kind of smooth ride.
But the real struggle was going on inside me, as I never traveled alone. My inside struggle started a few days before travelling. I was confused, startled, and terrified. So many things were going on. How the hotel would be, what if something happens during the journey, and many other thoughts that were beyond my control. The icing on the cake, I have motion sickness.
Back to the story, I landed at Rajahmundry at or around 9:30 pm and headed to the hotel. The colleague knew where the hotel was; therefore, she booked a cab, and we arrived at the hotel. The hotel receptionist gave us a room key, and she went to her room and I went to mine.
There was no water bottle or water in the room (basically, they don’t provide water) . So I went to my colleague’s room and asked her to call a person to bring water bottles. So she called and asked them to bring water bottles to the respective rooms. After this, I left for my room.
Someone pressed the doorbell, and I opened the door, and that guy was holding a water bottle, and I went to take my phone to transfer him money online. And he followed me. I got scared as hell. I was like I don’t have change, let’s go to my colleague’s room and take money.
She also transferred money online. I told her about this incident, and she asked me Don’t worry, they don’t have that manners, just ask them to stay outside and they will.
After that incident, I was freaked out as hell and couldn’t sleep at all by imagining all the worst scenarios.
The next morning, a cab came to pick us up and we went to our site, which was around 55 to 60 km from our hotel.
I was already tired and didn’t have any energy to work on anything. Still, I managed to complete my tasks, and after that, my colleague was supposed to show me around campus, but she got busy with other stuff. So she asked someone else to show me around, and that person introduced me to important people and showed me around. After that, around 7 pm, we headed for our hotel.
Now, here comes the twist: a cyclone. Between October 27th and 30th, 2025, Andhra was affected by a cyclone, and my return train was scheduled for October 29th.
I asked my colleague to accompany me to the station the next day. She agreed, but in the morning, she didn’t show up, and I couldn’t blame her. She might have been tired as well.
So, while coming back to the hotel, it was already raining heavily, and the whole night it rained, which was 28th Oct 2025. 29th was my return time to Hyderabad. Trains were running late. My train time was 7:30 am, and it came at 8:30 am at Rajahmundry station.
My train was about to reach Secunderabad around 3 pm, but I reached it at 8:30 pm as the train took a different route due to the Cyclone.
Here, my partner was getting worried, and he couldn’t sleep for those days. When I reached home around 10 pm, I could see a sigh on his face.
Though, while coming back to Hyderabad, I was feeling good that I handled things quite well and had a sense of relief that in the future at least I could travel alone. Well, I’m not talking about living alone in a hotel. Maybe in the future it could be possible, but not now.
I can travel to my hometown alone, as I know that after reached there, my family would be present for me, and in any unfortunate circumstances, I could call them, but travelling alone in a completely new location with no contacts would be a terrifying situation for me.
However, my husband loves to travel, but because of me, he has to plan in such a way that my health won’t be affected.
Though I have a lot of respect for women who travel alone and face every situation with courage. But personally, I feel that when any lady, girl, or woman traveling alone be extra cautious. We all know traveling alone in India for women is not safe at all.
PS – Very Small Apartment Living Room Ideas
Bottom Line
I talked to the concerned person and told them that I couldn’t travel, and if they want I am ready to leave the job. But travelling alone that too to another city with no contacts for now, is not my cup of tea. Somehow, management agreed. Hopefully, it will stay the same.
Again, I’m really proud of women who travel alone, but it will take time for me to build that courage. Thanks for reading.
